Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Second Opinion is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We collect only what we need, protect it carefully, and never use it against your interests. This policy explains exactly what we do.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name and email address when you create an account or contact us. We also collect information about how you use Second Opinion, including the contracts you upload, findings generated, and interactions with our platform. When you connect third-party tools (Slack, Gmail, QuickBooks, etc.), we access only the data necessary to provide context-aware contract analysis. We do not store the content of your communications beyond what is needed to build your knowledge graph.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: • Provide and improve the Second Opinion service • Generate contract analysis, findings, and recommendations • Build and maintain your personal legal knowledge graph • Send you alerts about contract renewals and risks • Respond to your questions and support requests • Improve our AI models and ontology — using only anonymized, aggregated data We never sell your personal information or use your contract data to train models that benefit other users.
3. Data Security
Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard AES-256 and TLS 1.2+ protocols. Your contracts and knowledge graph are stored in isolated, access-controlled environments. We conduct regular security audits and follow SOC 2 aligned practices. We will notify you promptly in the event of any data breach that may affect your personal information.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data or contract content with third parties except: • With your explicit consent • With service providers who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements • When required by law or valid legal process • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Second Opinion, our users, or the public Your knowledge graph and contract data are yours alone. No competitor, attorney, or third party can access your data.
5. Third-Party Integrations
When you connect third-party tools like Slack, Gmail, or QuickBooks, you authorize Second Opinion to access specific data from those services. We access only what's needed for the integration to function. You can disconnect any integration at any time from your account settings, which immediately revokes our access. Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data within their platform.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data and contract content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at samar@secondopinion.law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data • Request deletion of your data • Object to or restrict certain processing • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format To exercise any of these rights, contact us at samar@secondopinion.law.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We also use analytics and advertising technologies, such as cookies and pixels from providers including Google Analytics and Google Ads, to understand how visitors use Second Opinion and to measure our marketing. These tools may collect information such as pages viewed, device and browser details, and the company associated with your network. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some functionality.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on our platform. Your continued use of Second Opinion after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
